Deep in the ancient wilderness of the Finger Lakes, a choreographer sets out to create The Dance Poems of the Vestals, an ambitious ritualistic dance piece meant to cure the modern epidemic of isolation and lack of meaning. Tracking the performance from it's fragile conception to its opening night, the film intertwines her creative crucible with the surrounding rural community, as both seek to reignite the sacred flame of human relationships and a forgotten connection to the natural world.
Without Territory Films presents Temple of Vesta, a documentary exploring the search for meaning, connection, and community in an increasingly isolated world, directed by James LaRocca. Shot entirely in New York’s Finger Lakes region, the film is edited by Thomas Nolle, with sound supervision by Barry S. Weir Jr., cinematography by Pema Baldwin, co-produced by Erin London, and executive produced by Randy Kulina. Temple of Vesta is currently screening exclusively at film festivals.
